NEIGHBORHOOD CUP

The Taça das Favelas is the world's largest football championship for favelas.

It's a competition for boys and girls, and it's not played by traditional teams, but by teams from the favelas themselves. These teams function like a national team: we bring together the best young people from a favela to represent their territory in the competition. Furthermore, each young person can only represent the favela where they live.

The championship promotes inclusion and social integration within the communities, strengthening the self-esteem of young people in the favelas and transmitting educational and civic values.

Ten years ago, CUFA (Central Única das Favelas) launched the Taça das Favelas (Favela Cup) in Rio de Janeiro. The tournament has become a success and is now present in other states, positively impacting the lives of Brazilian children and young people.

Since the Taça das Favelas (Favela Cup) transcends football and stands out as a factor in social integration, the championship organizers offer social workshops for players and coaches in all the host states of the project before the games begin. These workshops address topics such as healthy eating and financial literacy, generating an even greater impact on the lives of the participants.
